Our Story
Locally Owned and OperatedIn the fall of 2002, TNT Publications, owned by Todd and Terri Nighswonger, purchased Cleveland/Akron Family magazine and began the company with themselves and a small staff. In January 2005, the magazine was split into two editions, Cleveland Family and Akron Family. In January 2006, a third edition was added, Lake/Geauga Family, to further enhance the scope of the magazines coverage. Distributed through more than 1,200 schools, child care centers, libraries, grocery stores, retail outlets and other locations, the publications serve an eight-county area, offering a regional calendar and features on parenting of children from tots to teens. With the change, readers and advertisers were excited to get the same great content focused on their individual geographic area.
TNT Publications also publishes the annual Ultimate Family Resource guide and in 2006 began a monthly Family e-newsletter to readers and advertisers called Parent Power.
Continuing in a growth mode, TNT Publications purchased the Lake County Business Journal and Lake County Business Expo in the summer of 2005. The Lake County Business Journal offers peer-to-peer information for Lake County managers and business owners. Founded in 1991, the business journal publishes 11 issues annually, an increase from nine at the time of purchase, and has 5,200 subscribers. The Lake County Business Journal, which has added city-specific content to its editorial calendar, also publishes the annual Lake County Facilities Guide.
The summer of 2006 brought even more exciting additions to TNT Publications as the company expanded to include two more long-time local publications: Ohio Sports & Fitness Magazine and City to Country Guide. Ohio Sports & Fitness (formerly Northcoast Sports) is now published in a glossy magazine-style format and continues to be the go-to publication for amateur and recreational sports enthusiasts. The magazines annual Keeper issue, which comes out in February, is a highly sought-after issue. City to Country Guide went from four issues per year to six in 2007 and continues to be the publication of choice for antique shoppers, festival-goers and country lovers.
